Ms. Apfelbaum joined Lewis & Hand, LLP in September 2007. Presently, she serves as an associate in the firm’s Trademark, Internet Law, Licensing, Small Business Services and Employment Agreements practices, where she handles trademark prosecutions, domain name disputes, a wide range of licensing and agreements, and other transactional matters. She previously worked with Mr. Lewis on trademark issues and domain name disputes at Register.com. Ms. Apfelbaum’s practice also includes advising on employment, non-competition and severance agreements and other employee compensation and benefits matters and employment law issues (federal and state law compliance, trade secret protections and data privacy), which were the focus of her practice at her prior firms, including Sullivan & Cromwell LLP.

In her earlier careers, Ms. Apfelbaum spent seven years in the financial services data and technology fields. From 1999 through 2001 she worked as a member of the executive team at Watcher Technologies LLC, the professional electronic trading systems subsidiary of Datek Online Holdings, and was responsible for managing all legal and compliance matters, including coordinating intellectual property litigations and registrations, negotiating software licenses with vendors and customers, and implementing data security policies. She also served as the de facto head of human resources during the company’s initial start-up year. Before that, she spent most of 1995 – 1999 working at Reuters, both in the U.S and in London, in the support, sales, marketing and ultimately the management and development of new global market data products. In these roles, she gained an in-depth familiarity with Internet and web-based technologies.
